Restoration work violated the Wilderness Act

Regarding the editorial, “Group’s lawsuit threatens Wilderness Act it seeks to protect”:

The Wilderness Act protects our wild places from development and the sounds of helicopters, power drills, and chainsaws. Olympic National Park failed to do this under the act when it allowed the use of helicopters and modern equipment to rebuild structures which had literally collapsed and rotted from lack of attention. The act didn’t prevent them from hauling in their equipment and supplies the old-fashioned way; they just didn’t want to make the effort. When land managers are unwilling to enforce our laws and prevent private groups from violating the Wilderness Act when they try to preserve history, I’m glad that Wilderness Watch is there to call them out.
