Letter: Merging fire districts won’t improve service
Published 1:30 am Saturday, July 23, 2016
I just wanted to make friends and neighbors in Fire District 21, Arlington Heights, Arlington Rural, aware that the fire commissioners and fire chief representing Fire District 21 are pushing through a proposal to form a Rural Fire Authority with neighboring districts. If this passes, your fire taxes will double, and the service you receive will be basically the same service you receive now. Please also be aware that there is solid evidence that some of the numbers they will be using in their arguments have been falsely elevated regarding the total numbers of district calls.
You can ensure that your commissioners are representing your needs and desires by attending their monthly meeting at the Arlington Heights fire station at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month. These meetings are open to the public, your voice needs to be heard.
