Mountlake Terrace honors Eagle Scout candidates
The Mountlake Terrace City Council recognized two Eagle Scout candidates at its Sept. 19 meeting for projects completed at Evergreen Playfield.
Dustyn Stelter installed a new stone retaining wall to replace an old wooden wall.
Reagan Tedrow installed a new set of bleachers at the soccer field and a new bench near the tennis courts.
Emergency crews honored with Phoenix Award
The Marysville Fire District on Sept. 21 presented eight staff with the Phoenix Award for their roles in a responding to a call for an unresponsive man earlier this year.
The Phoenix Award honors those whose extraordinary actions contribute to the saving of a life wherein the patient is able to return to the standard or quality of life previously enjoyed.
Honored were Marysville Fire District Capt. Basil Bailey and firefighters Josh Olsen and Chad Solbakken; Lake Stevens Fire Capt. Keith Terry, firefighter-paramedics Brandon Mauer and Eric Jones, and firefighter Josh Duncan; and SNOPAC dispatcher Kate Dotson.
Jay Byram, whose life was saved, and his wife Jill, who delivered CPR until emergency crews arrived, were on hand for the award presentation.
Stantec employees clean up park
More than 60 employees from Stantec’s Lynnwood office came out to Lynnwood’s Wilcox Park for a volunteer work party on Sept. 21. Volunteers thinned brush, removed invasive plants, and did other general maintenance work at the 40-acre park.
Egg artists raise money for hospice care
The Egg Artist Guild of Washington recently presented a check for $1,355 to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County. The money was raised by selling raffle tickets for a chance to win an decorated egg worth at least $150. The prized eggs are donated by guild members each year at the state Decorated Egg Show, held the second weekend of July each year at the Holiday Inn Downtown Everett.
