EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox fell 12-8 to Spokane Indians Saturday night before 4,212 fans at Everett Memorial Stadium.
It was the fourth consecutive loss for the AquaSox (2-4 second half, 19-25 overall). All four losses have come to the Indians (5-1, 21-23).
Ismel Lopez (2-1) earned the win as he allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while fanning two. But it was a trio of Spokane relievers – Joseph Kuzia, Parker Sanburn and Josh Advocate – who combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to nail down the win for the Indians.
Trailing 6-5, the Indians reclaimed the lead for good with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth, and they tacked on two more in the sixth with a Melvin Novoa two-run double.
Everett scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, but had the tying run thrown out at the plate as Spokane preserved the 9-8 lead.
Tyler Ratliff hit a solo home run leading off the top of the ninth, and Spokane added two more runs via sacrifice fly and RBI single to pad the lead.
Spokane previously snapped a 3-3 tie in the top of the fourth. Kobie Taylor doubled and scored on a groundout, and Ratliff drove in Jonah McReynolds with an RBI single to make it 5-3.
But the Frogs answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning when Ronald Rosario drove in two with a triple and scored on a Joseph Rosa RBI single to take a 6-5 lead.
Onil Pena singled with one out in the second, and one out later Juan Camacho walked. Both runners advanced on a passed ball and scored on Joe Venturino’s two-out single to right for a 2-0 lead.
Miguel Aparicio’s solo home run just inside the right-field foul pole put the Indians on the board. Yonny Hernandez followed with a walk and later scored on an infield single by Ratliff, and Ratliff scored on a sacrifice fly to give Spokane a 3-2 lead.
Eugene Helder’s RBI single in the bottom of the third tied the game at 3-3.
Ratliff had three hits, drove in three runs and scored three times. Novoa added three hits, while Aparicio, Inoa and Taylor each had two hits to pace the Indians.
Venturino had three hits for Everett while Rosario and Helder each had two. Camacho scored three times.
The three-game series is set to conclude at 4:05 p.m. Sunday before the annual All-Star break that features an exhibition game between the Northwest League and Pioneer League All-Stars.
