EVERETT — A Washington State Patrol trooper used his SUV to stop a truck that was rolling backward Sunday night on I-5.

The driver pulled off to the shoulder of northbound I-5 in north Everett to check for a flat tire, the Washington State Patrol said. He reportedly put the engine in reverse instead of park and stepped out when the truck rolled back, knocking him down. The man had minor injuries.

The truck kept rolling until the trooper saw it and intentionally hit it to stop it in a lane of traffic. The trooper was not injured.
