It’s hard to do better than the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature in the compact crossover SUV class, especially when price is a consideration.

The top-of-the-line trim level adds attributes of sophistication and superior craftsmanship to an already family friendly ride with functionality, versatility and all-wheel drive safety.

There’s a reason the CX-5 is Mazda’s top-selling vehicle in the United States, and recently surpassed two million units sold worldwide. CX-5 seats up to five adults, provides generous cargo capacity accessed via a power lift-gate, and even more space when the rear seats are folded flat.

Mazda takes its next key step with a high-quality interior befitting a new top-tier Signature trim level, the refinement of the powertrain lineup with the addition of the turbocharged SKYACTIV-2.5T engine, and an enhanced focus on the chassis featuring the latest technologies with G-Vectoring Control Plus.

The four-cylinder engine is a technological tour de force that generates 310 lb.-ft. of torque from just 2,000 rpm and 250 horsepower on 93-octane fuel. It also features cylinder-deactivation technology that reduces fuel consumption by shutting down the two outside cylinders at light load cruising speeds between 25 and 50 mph.

The Signature trim level composes elegant features such as heated front and back Caturra brown Nappa leather seats, genuine layered wood trim and satin chrome accents to tie the whole look together.

The leather-wrapped steering wheels features unique stitching, while ambient interior LED lighting, a black headliner and a frameless rearview mirror all play their part in creating a refined interior atmosphere.

Best of all, the CX-5 drives like a car. It receives the latest in refinements to the suspension system to offer a smoother, more linear ride quality that all occupants can enjoy. The suspension was re-tuned to reduce friction, allowing the wheels to easily glide over bumps while maintaining confident control of body motions. And steering geometry was also improved to help the CX-5 carve through corners more naturally.

The 7-inch, full-color touchscreen display holds another new feature for the 2019 CX-5: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. These infotainment technologies help occupants use smartphone applications in a more safe manner by using the multi-function Commander knob and shortcut buttons, or voice command functions. This integration helps keep the driver’s hand and eyes away from their smartphone.

Other creature comforts worthy of note include navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers and two rear USB ports. Other goodies include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bose 10-speaker premium audio sound system, power glass moon roof and a power lift-gate.

Standard i-ACTIVSENSE safety features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and smart city-brake support. CX-5 Touring adds the suite of safety features, such as lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist and full-speed Mazda radar cruise control with stop and go function.
