Peoples Bank to open Edmonds office, name branch manager
Peoples Bank has announced that its opening its newest office in Edmonds, which will open this spring. Vern Woods will serve as vice president and branch manager for the location at 111 Main St. Suite 102. Woods has more than 20 years of banking experience, working previously at a Washington Mutual branch that later become Chase. He also worked with Cascade Bank, now Opus Bank in the Edmonds market. Bellingham-based Peoples Bank operates 25 branches and three loan production offices in Washington.
Hazel Miller Foundation gives $50,000 grant to Edmonds Center for the Arts
Edmonds Center for the Arts has received an award of a $50,000 grant from the Hazel Miller Foundation to support several of its family and community programs including Summer Arts Enrichments Camps, Education Matinees and the new Dementia-Inclusive Series. The foundation has supported Edmonds Center for the Arts since 2011. It awards about $500,000 annually to charities and non-profit organizations.
Windermere founder creates real estate minor for UW
The University of Washington will create an undergraduate minor in real estate studies thanks to a $5.4 million gift from retired Windermere Real Estate founder John Jacobi and his wife, Rosalind. The gift also includes two new endowed faculty chairs at the Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies in the UW’s College of Built Environments. The new minor begins in fall 2017.
Bartell Drugs is collecting teddy bears for children in need
Bartell Drugs is hosting its annual Teddy Bear Patrol campaign to collect teddy bears for first responders to give to children during stressful or traumatic situations. Bears under 12 inches in length will be accepted in all Bartell Drugs locations throughout the month of April. Silver Lake Bartell Drugs will hold a special collection from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 16.
