EVERETT — A man, suspected of driving under the influence, struck an empty Washington State Patrol vehicle on I-5 near Silver Lake on Saturday morning.
Shortly after 7 a.m., a Washington State Patrol vehicle was blocking the northbound HOV lane during a previous collision at milepost 188. Flares marked the scene, and lights from a tow truck and the patrol vehicle were active as well, according to the WSP.
A driver in a white Ford Focus was driving north on I-5 in the HOV lane when it struck the unoccupied patrol vehicle.
The driver was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett to be treated for his injuries.
