Airbus retains its lead over the Boeing Co. in year-to-date orders and deliveries of commercial jets as of May 31.
Airbus has won 435 net orders, compared to Boeing’s 418. The European company also out-delivered Boeing, handing over 201 aircraft by the end of May compared to Boeing’s 195.
One category that Airbus likely is unhappy to lead Boeing: cancellations. Airbus has cancelled out 35 orders for aircraft, including 23 A350 orders and 12 A318 orders. Boeing lists only one cancellation, for a 737.
For you stock watchers, Boeing’s shares have been taking a beating this morning down $3.25 to $74.06 at around 10 a.m. The latest numbers on the nation’s jobs (unemployment is up to 5.5 percent, the highest level since October 2004) and crude oil prices (above $134 a barrel) are creating havoc on Wall Street.
