Airbus delivered a record of 498 aircraft in 2009, retaining its title as the world’s number one jet maker.
Boeing delivered 481 airplanes last year.
Airbus also beat Boeing in terms of net orders, logging in 271 orders compared to Boeing’s 142.
But the news was not all good for Airbus. The company’s CEO Tom Enders was frank about two troubled programs, the A400 M and the A380.
Enders called the A380 jumbo jet a “big disappointment” and said it will be a “financial liability” for years to come.
He also suggested that Airbus kill its A400 military plane program.
“The A400M puts all of Airbus in jeopardy,” Enders said.
