Airbus remains slightly ahead of the Boeing Co. in orders and deliveries through the month of July.
The European jet maker said on Friday that it solidified 50 jet orders last month, bringing its net total to 118 orders for the first seven months of 2009.
July was a good month for orders for Boeing, which won 44 new orders. But Boeing has collected more cancellations this year than has Airbus and has a net total of 40.
The delivery race remains tight with Airbus leading Boeing in total deliveries. But Boeing still leads Airbus in deliveries of widebody jets, which are more profitable than the popular single-aisle aircraft.
