Airbus has decided to raise the list prices for its commercial aircraft.
On Friday, the European company announced an average price increase of 5.8 percent on its airplanes. It’s the first price increase in two years, the company said.
Airlines and leasing companies usually negotiate a better deal than list prices, but both Boeing and Airbus publish a standard “list” price for all their airplanes.
“We have tried to keep prices down for as long as we can,” said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “However, even with record aircraft deliveries and impressive orders in recent years, the continuing strength of the Euro against the US Dollar and the ongoing financial challenges ahead have forced us to take action.”
With the price increase, Airbus lists its single-aisle A320 at $81.4 million, its new A330 Freighter at $194.8 million, its A350-800 at $225.2 million at its A380 superjumbo jet at $346.3 million.
