The popular American Girl phenomenon is opening its first store in Washington state at Alderwood mall, Lynnwood officials said.
Community Development Director Paul Krauss told Lynnwood Today the company is in the process of constructing a store in Alderwood Village next to Borders. It already has existing stores in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and New York.
Krauss said the Lynnwood store will accommodate parties and include dining and a doll hospital.
The stores typically have special events such as cooking classes, book signings and workshops as well as shopping, doll hair salons and photos.
In addition to stores, American Girl offers a magazine, books, movies and a host of events designed for girls.
“At American Girl, we celebrate girls and all that they can be,” the company says on its website.
