Globes, the English-language version of Israel’s leading business newspaper, reports that privately owned Israeli airline Arkia is poised to sign a 787 order. http://www.globes.co.il/serveen/globes/DocView.asp?did=1000091811&fid=1725
Key Quote: “Under the proposed agreement, Arkia will initially buy two aircraft with an option to buy two more. The first two aircraft are due to be delivered in 2008. … The agreement will be signed by Arkia managers and the Nakash group during a visit to Boeing … at the end of this month.”
The report describes the seating capacity of a 787-9, and quotes a purchase price of $280 million — which would be about a 27 percent discount off the list price. However, if Arkia is ordering 787-8s, $280 million would represent about a 5 percent discount.
And in Africa, Agence France-Presse reports http://www.businessinafrica.net/news/east_africa/657793.htm that Air Seychelles has signed a deal to lease two of the 787s that ILFC has ordered from Boeing.
Key Quote: “Under the deal signed on Thurday … the two aircrafts would be delivered in May and September of 2010 for a lease term of 12 years.”
