EVERETT — A major lumber company will open a new location in Everett later this month.
“We are thrilled to expand our operations in the Seattle-Everett area,” said David Hamill, chief executive of the Parr Co., in a prepared statement. “This is a growing market for us and the new facility will allow us to continue this growth.”
The Parr Co., based in Hillsboro, Ore., plans to have its Parr Lumber yard ready for business Jan. 21. The new facility, located at 320 W. Marine View Drive in Everett, initially will service contractors, a growing customer base for Parr. The lumber company sees potential for a retail store at the same location.
The Everett site makes Parr’s 26th lumberyard and its fourth in the Seattle area. The firm operates three Parr Cabinet Outlets in Fife, Lynnwood and Seattle.
Established in 1930, Parr remains a family-owned business with 40 facilities spread out across Oregon, Washington, Arizona, California and Utah. The company operates professional and retail building material yards, cabinet outlets and contractor-focused outlets. Parr says it is the nation’s 17th largest building materials supplier.
The new lumberyard will be managed by Doug Nelson, who previously served as assistant manager at the company’s West Linn, Ore., facility. For the Everett facility, Parr Lumber will seek employees to fill positions such as load builders, drivers and outside sales representatives.
Parr’s lumberyard in Everett will operate from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays.
