Anne-Marie Faiola, the chief executive of Bramble Berry Inc. of Bellingham, has been named the state’s Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Admininstration.
Bramble Berry sells raw materials like shea butter or lavender oil, to soap and toiletry artisans all over the world. It was started 1998 with $15,000 on a credit card and has since then grown into multiple income streams and $3.1 million in annual revenue.
Faiola and her business were selected by an independent panel of judges based on staying power, growth, increase in employees, response to adversity, innovation, leadership and contributions to the small business community, and community-oriented projects.
She and other winners will be honored April 28 at Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle.
Other winners include: Exporters of the Year, Robert Haberman and Bradley Haberman, No. 9 Hay LLC, Ellensburg; Family-Owned Small Business of the Year, Andrew J. Olson, A-1 Mobile Lock & Key Inc., Burlington; Home-Based Business Champion, Cosette Gibson-Pfaff, South Sound Regional Business Incubator, Federal Way; and Minority Small Business Champion, Mike Skinner, StartZone, Highline Community College, DesMoines.
