Commercial lenders Cynthia Weaver and Bob Yost have joined Mountain Pacific Bank in Everett, as has business development and marketing officer Sandy Bartel. Both Weaver and Yost are bank vice presidents and commercial lending officers. CEO Mark Duffy said the bank is “moving into a growth mode again.”
Greg Lowry is the new general manager of the Lynnwood Convention Center. He has more than 20 years of experience in the events industry.
Amy Norman was voted best dentist in Western Washington for the third consecutive year by KING-TV and KOMO-TV viewers. Norman, who offers general and cosmetic dentistry, has worked in the Everett area for 16 years.
Wayne Brown of Mill Creek and Diana Clay of Edmonds have joined the board of trustees of Edmonds Community College. Gov. Chris Gregoire appointed Brown to serve until 2016 and Clay to serve through 2013. They replace Mauri Moore, who’s moving to Seattle, and Jennette Wood, whose term ended in September. Brown is operations leader at the Boeing Co. and Clay is co-owner of Clay Enterprises, which works in real estate.

Austin Everett has started Mobile Excellence, a mobile car-detailing business based in Edmonds. Everett said the business is completely self-contained and offers a waterless wash system. He offers a full range of services for vehicle interiors and exteriors, as well as windshield chip repairs typically covered by insurance. Everett said he is licensed in Edmonds and with the state.
Classes
It’s time to register for winter classes at Everett Community College’s campus in Monroe. Classes start Jan. 9. Some of the business-related classes include accounting, keyboarding, Excel, computer literacy, using the computer and managing files, word processing, databases, PowerPoint and basic computer systems. The state Employment Security Department has extended a contract with Microsoft to make the entire suite of online courses available free to state residents for another year. “This is one of the most cost-effective investments we’ve ever made in skill training,” said Paul Trause, employment security commissioner. In the past year, more than 12,000 people took 29,000 Microsoft courses. Courses include computer literacy, an array of Office and Windows products and training for IT professionals. Business classes offered by the Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce include introduction to blogging at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and blogging for business at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17. Using social media to enhance project management will among the items discussed at a project management open house from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Snohomish Hall 304 at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W. The annual open house gives people a chance to network with instructors, students and industry professionals and find information about becoming a certified project manager. It includes a resource room, a meeting/classroom, and home for YouthBuild Snohomish County, a construction training program.

Ethan Allen celebrated the relocation of a design center in Lynnwood last month with a silent auction that raised $2,000 for Housing Hope. The new store is at 2617 196th St. SW and includes 11,395 square feet of the company’s home products and furnishings.
Honors
Chocolates by George!, owned by George Brunjes in Freeland on Whidbey Island, won a second-place medal in the Sweet Heat division of the Scovie Awards in Albuquerque, N.M. He competed with his Sky Rockets in Flight truffle. Brunjes said that since 2005, the company has garnered four first-place and 15 other awards for chocolate creations.
