Matthew Hill has joined Union Bank as a senior vice president of corporate banking. He will manage the company’s Seattle-based corporate banking team. Earlier this year, Union took over Everett-based Frontier Bank, which had established the corporate banking office in Seattle.

Ken Bloomstine is the new executive director of the Marysville Care Center, 1821 Grove St., a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. Before joining the center, Bloomstine was a health care consultant. He has more than 22 years of experience in the field and is a licensed nursing home administrator.

Classes

Learning how to develop effective employee training programs is a class offered by Everett Community College from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 7. The class will include information for human resource professionals on how people learn, how to determine training needs and evaluating effectiveness. Cost is $120. The Everett office of the state Department of Revenue is hosting a free workshop for new and small business owners from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Participants will learn about the state excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, sales tax collections and record-keeping requirements. The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards banquet at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the conference center at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave. To register, call 425-257-3222, ext. 0.

The Snohomish County Young Professionals Network will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Mukilteo Lodge Sports Grille, 7928 Mukilteo Speedway, for networking and a holiday party.

Moves

The Port of Everett will move Dec. 13 from Bond Street to its new administration building at the Waterfront Center facility off 13th Street and W. Marine View Drive. The address will be 1205 Craftsman Way, Suite 200. The port’s Marina office is moving to Suite 100 at the street address. The mailing address, P.O. Box 538, Everett, WA 98206, remains the same as do the agency’s phone numbers. Call 425-259-3164 with questions about the move.

Expansion

Achilles USA, which has had a presence in Everett for 37 years, has begun construction of a new $14 million facility. When completed, the plant will have 30,000 square feet of space for Achilles, which makes high-performance plastic films for a variety of products.

Awards

Shawn O’Donnell’s Irish Pub and American Grill, 122 128th St. SE, Everett, was award Best Irish Pub by KING-TV for the third year in a row.

Good deeds

Wagner Jewelers in Marysville recently sponsored its fourth annual Bank the Cans event at its store to collect items for the community food bank. In additional to collecting food, the company pledged a percentage of the evening event’s sales for the food bank.

AT&T Foundation has donated $30,974 to the United Way of Snohomish County. The gift is separate from the company’s United Way fundraising campaign among employees.
