Norma Middleton, Snohomish County’s assistant human resources director, has been appointed to the International Public Management Association Fellowship Committee. This committee evaluates applications for the association’s fellowships. Middleton also has been selected by the city of Lynnwood to serve on its civil service interview panel.

Jackie Anderson, a human resources analyst in Snohomish County’s Human Resources Department, has been selected by Edmonds Community College to assist the Six Sigma Program with its mock interview program. The Six Sigma Program is a nationally known business improvement certificate program.

Diana Ortega has been promoted to commercial loan officer at Banner Bank’s Everett Colby Commercial Banking Center. Ortega has more than 12 years of banking experience and has worked for Banner Bank for nine of those years.

Nine new staff members and interns have joined the Everett office of Moss Adams LLP: Matthew Reynolds, Junko Miyagi-Tamai, Ryn Jewett, Morgan Axton, Corey Preugschat, Matt Stopa, Kha Do, Lisa Semritc and Rebecka McDonald.

Sparling has promoted eight people at its Seattle/Lynnwood offices. Troy Thrun was promoted to vice president in charge of firm strategy on design services for studios. Robert Prichard was promoted to vice president in charge of developing strategies for technical consulting. Karl Pihl was promoted to principal, Technology Consulting. Maureen Jackson was promoted to associate principal, electrical engineering. Christian Haas was promoted to associate principal, electrical engineering. Kendra Fuller was promoted to associate principal, director of Human Resources. Randy Fisher was promoted to associate. Timothy Philomeno was promoted to associate.

Good deeds

Cascade Bank employees donated more than $75,000 to benefit United Way of Snohomish County during the bank’s annual eight-week joint fundraising campaign.

United Way free income tax preparation sites are now open to help low and moderate income families and individuals prepare and electronically tax returns. Free tax preparation services are available at: Cedar Valley Community School, 19200 56th Ave. W, Lynnwood; North Middle School, 2514 Rainier Ave., Everett; South Everett Foursquare, 14 E. Casino Road, Suite D, Everett; and Frank Wagner Elementary School, 115 Dickinson Road, Monroe. The sessions take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

Training

Everett South Goodwill’s Job Training and Education Center helps people improve their job skills. The center’s computer lab is currently open on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon. People can use the computers for career-related activities, and instructors will be available to answer questions and provide assistance. The center is located at 228 SW Everett Mall Way.
