The Seattle Team Shop has opened a new store at the Alderwood mall, its eighth location in the region. Thursday is Sounders Day and Friday is Seahawks Day.

AAA is offering a Tri-A-Cruise event featuring representatives from Celebrity, Royal Caribbean International and Azamara Club cruises at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Shawn O’Donnell’s Restaurant, 122 128th St. SE, Everett. Brown Bear Car Wash will offer a free wash Aug. 25 to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the business. Brown Bear has 41 locations, including one in Everett.

YWCA Pathways to Work will offer employment classes in Everett, Lynnwood and Stanwood for women who need to re-enter the workforce. The three-hour workshops help attendees set goals, build self esteem, practice interviewing, learn about training opportunities and translate their experiences into marketable skills. Solutions to the economic challenges facing the community of Granite Falls will be the topic of an economic summit from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Granite Falls Library. The event, sponsored by the city and the chamber of commerce, will look at progress during the past six months and future plans and goals.

The Snohomish Chamber of Commerce will hold a networking session for chambers from Lake Stevens, Monroe and the Sky Valley at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 30 at the Snohomish Boys and Girls Club, 402 Second St. Call 360-568-2526.

The Washington Policy Center will hold a statewide Small Business Conference from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Bellevue College, 3000 Landerholm Circle SE in Bellevue.

A continental breakfast will be followed by a legislative update, sessions on health care reform, worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance, state budget and tax issues and competitiveness, folowed by a keynote lunch.

Business news

Property tax revenue for the state increased 4 percent to $9.2 billion in 2011, with some of the increase coming from new construction and some from higher voter-approved levies, the state Department of Revenue reported.
