The president of Everett-headquartered Electronic Business Machines, Brian Landgren, has announced that Dave Schlosser was promoted from operations responsibilities to vice president and director of sales. Schlosser earned his degree from Western Washington University and began working full-time for Electronic Business Machines right after graduation. He has held nearly every position at the company.

Kudos

Evergreen Food Store on Evergreen Way in Everett has been named Everett-area Retailer of the Year by Washington’s Lottery. The retailer sold more scratch tickets than any other store in Everett. On Sept. 26, Washington’s Lottery presented Evergreen Food Store with a plaque and $500 check.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival received three Pinnacle Awards for 2012 merchandise at the recent conference of the International Festival and Events Association in Denver. The awards were for the 2012 poster, a tile featuring the poster artwork and a t-shirt. The festival has won 17 awards since 1998.

Good deeds

During the month of October, clients of Elle Marie Hair Studio who donate $10 or more to the Pink Hair for Hope campaign will receive a 100 percent natural, pink hair extension. All net proceeds go directly to The American Cancer Society. Elle Marie Hair Studio and SHE by SO.CAP.USA, a leading provider of natural hair extensions, have hosted the Pink Hair for Hope campaign for six years.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Curves fitness centers will waive the joining fee on memberships from Oct. 1-14 to new members who show proof of a mammogram performed within the past year or who donate $25 to The American Cancer Society. The plan is to raise awareness about good health and early detection and treatment.

Workforce Development Council Snohomish County and HopeWorks Social Enterprises are presenting a brown-bag lunch forum titled “Social Enterprise Success Stories,” featuring Ty Taylor, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The cities of Everett and Iwakuni, Japan, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their sister city relationship with art and music from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday. Iwakuni Mayor Yoshihiko Fukuda and 50 Iwakuni citizens will attend. The event is to be held at Everett Community College’s Henry M. Jackson Conference Center in Everett. It is free and open to the public.

The Bartell Drugs Silver Lake store in Everett will host a free-of-charge or discounted health clinic Friday. The clinic will include diabetes services, cholesterol testing and osteoporosis screenings. A two-part event in Snohomish, the Snohomish Distillery Walk and After Party, is set for Saturday. The Distillery Walk begins at 4 p.m. and includes spirit tasting.
