Peoples Bank has promoted Kevin Engstrom to assistant vice president and real estate loan manager for Island County. Engstrom has served mortgage customers in Freeland for more than 17 years and has 23 years experience in mortgage loan origination and management. He is member of Whidbey Island South Association of Realtors, the Rotary Club of South Whidbey Island and the Freeland Chamber of Commerce.

Crane Aerospace &Electronics has appointed Gregg Herman vice president of sales and marketing. He is responsible for global sales, marketing and strategic customer alignment for the Aerospace Group. Herman joined Crane in 1997. His background includes experience in sales, customer relationship development and new business development.

Community Bankers of Washington has hired Brad Tower to be president and executive director. Tower will replace John Collins, who will retire in October after 12 years as the company’s president and executive director. Tower has provided lobbying and strategic consulting services to Community Bankers of Washington since 2004 and will continue to direct governmental affairs.

Events

Joe Gogal of the financial services firm Edward Jones invites the public to join him at a grand opening celebration of his office at 10101 19th Ave. SE, Everett. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Mountlake Terrace citizens, business owners and others from the community are invited to join city officials for Coffee with the City. The Washington Clean Technology Alliance is hosting a breakfast panel in Seattle from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday. The topics are technology transfer and job creation. Speakers will include WCTA Board member and University of Washington vice provost Linden Rhoads, WCTA member Anson Fatland of economic development at Washington State University, and Pat Schweiger, an engineering manager at TerraPower. Participants in Leadership Snohomish County’s Signature Leadership class and its Young Leaders Challenge are looking for community projects and events to take on this fall. Community-based nonprofits and social service agencies are encouraged to submit ideas for projects or events now through Aug. 20. A question-and-answer session is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on July 18 in the United Way of Snohomish County boardroom, or give feedback at www.leadershipsc.org.

Snohomish County PUD is finalizing plans for six additional Planet Power green energy program projects to be installed this year. They will be at Arlington High School, Assistance League of Everett, Darrington High School, Granite Falls High School, Park Place Middle School and Sultan High School. More than 3,000 customers are involved in the utility’s voluntary Planet Power green energy program. More information is at www.snopud.com/planetpower.

State Treasurer James McIntire has announced a new opportunity for Washington residents to participate in the Buy Washington Bonds program. This program, which began last year, allows local investors to support state highway projects, jobs and the economy by purchasing state of Washington bonds. Good deeds

Everett dentist Colleen Tracy is offering discounted dental services to local residents in need and is helping a local food bank. She plans to offer a dental cleaning, exam and X-rays for just $39 to people in need. Tracy will then match that $39 and donate the total of $78 to the local Volunteers of America food bank. Windermere Real Estate North recently donated $8,750 to the YMCA which will go toward summer camp scholarships for kids. The office has a longstanding relationship with the YMCA, raising $100,000 total for the organization through the Windermere Foundation. A portion of the office’s recent donation comes from the Dick Wood Memorial fund.

Local philanthropist Robert Rotella was recently honored at a reception held by the University of Washington Bothell School of Business. Rotella, the CEO of Rotella Capital Management, donated 13 of his art photographs to UW Bothell’s Eastside Leadership Center.
