Dustin Birashk, a certified public accountant and senior manager at Moss Adams, has won the 2011 Brand Ambassador Award from PeopleMetrics, a leader in customer and employee engagement. Birashk was selected for the award because he received the largest number of customer accolades within the firm.

Peoples Bank has announced the promotion of Bridget Barrington to vice president and Mill Creek branch manager. She joined the bank in 2006 to help open that office. Carol McDonald has been promoted to vice president and deposit operations manager. McDonald joined the bank in 2008. She helped open and develop the Snohomish office as branch manager.

Brian Wyatt, portfolio manager for McIlrath &Eck, has transferred to the Smokey Point office. He has been with the firm for six years. Thor McIlrath, CFP and owner of McIlrath &Eck in Smokey Point, has been awarded the Five Star Award in Wealth Management. He will be recognized in the April issue of Seattle magazine.

The International Association of Venue Managers has announced the nomination of Kim Bedier for second vice chair of the organization’s board of directors. Bedier is the general manager for Global Spectrum-managed Comcast Arena in Everett. If elected, Bedier will take office in July.

Robert Jason Ziemer of Arlington has become one of the first physician assistants to earn a new specialty credential from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Ziemer was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Emergency Medicine by meeting licensure, education and experience requirements and then passing an exam in the specialty. He is one of only 232 certified PAs to earn the credential in the program’s first year.

Events

WorkSource Snohomish County, in partnership with the National Guard’s Joint Service Support and the Fleet and Family Support Program, will host the Snohomish County Regional Veterans’ Job and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 10 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Marysville. Veterans should bring copies of their resumes, dress for success and be prepared to be interviewed on site. Pre-register online at worksourceonline.com.

Workshops

Housing Hope’s HopeWorks Social Enterprises will be holding a series of brown-bag workshops to educate and assist nonprofit leaders in establishing social enterprises within their organizations. The first training session will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 4 at Housing Hope’s Village Schilaty Family Learning Center in Everett. Washington Sea Grant and Port of Seattle Fishermen’s Terminal are co-sponsoring a two-evening Marine Electrical Wiring Workshop for commercial fishermen and recreational boaters who want to upgrade their vessels’ electrical systems. The workshop is May 8 and 10 at Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle. Cost is $80. United Way of Snohomish County is offering $40,000 in grants to fund financial education and counseling programs serving low- or moderate-income individuals and families in Snohomish County. Grant funds may be used to support classroom instruction, one-on-one counseling or a combination. Applications must be received at the United Way office by 5 p.m. April 13. Bliss Organic Salon in downtown Monroe reopened for business under a new owner. Melissa Joly recently celebrated her purchase of the business with an official grand re-opening open house. The salon offers traditional salon services with a green approach, including organic skin and body products and safer, ammonia-free hair colors.

Portland-based Pacific International Maritime Medical Service is expanding its maritime medical division to the Puget Sound region. The organization provides access to consolidated medical services, including primary and urgent care, dental care, hospitalization, case management and repatriation services to the heavy-shipping maritime industry.

Bothell-based BioLife Solutions, a developer, manufacturer and marketer of clinical hypothermic storage and cryopreservation freeze media, has announced record revenue for the fourth quarter and full year 2011 and, for the first time, provided initial guidance on management’s outlook for the full year 2012.
