Mike Sarchet took over as the new Columbia College Naval Station Everett/Marysville campus director after an informal reception on last week to say goodbye to retiring campus director Tom Larsen. Sarchet has been the assistant director at Columbia College’s NAS Whidbey Island campus for several years.
Peoples Bank has promoted Kevin Engstrom to vice president and real estate loan manager for Island and Snohomish counties. Engstrom has served customers on Whidbey Island for more than 21 years. In his roll with Peoples Bank, he oversees the home loan production offices in Freeland and Coupeville.

A Puget Sound resident for more than 25 years, Bigelow has extensive experience in Snohomish County real estate including home owners association management and physical property services. Peoples Bank announced the promotion of Laurie Ausmus to assistant vice president and senior loan officer at the Mill Creek Real Estate Loan Center. Ausmus, a community volunteer, has been with Peoples Bank for five years and has been in the financial services industry for 25 years.

Ivar’s announced it will open a new Bothell restaurant in August. The 2,020-square-foot Seafood Bar will feature seating for 94 people and will be in the Lakeside at Canyon Creek Shopping Center at 24016 Bothell-Everett Highway. This marks the return of Ivar’s to Bothell. Its former location in the city closed three years ago.
Tulalip Resort Casino has announced a new sports bar to open later this year. The Draft Sports Bar &Grill will offer drinks, American food and major event viewing on large screen HDTVs. Located adjacent to the hotel lobby, it will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The Future of Flight Foundation welcomed 32 students from Brazil for the second year in a row as part of the Brazilian government’s Scientific Mobility Program, which provides scholarships to undergraduate students for a year of study abroad. Partial support of this year’s program came from a $83,515 grant from Boeing to the Future of Flight Foundation.
Nominations are open for the National Association of Secretaries of State Medallion, Washington’s highest civics award. The nomination deadline is Aug. 31. Anyone can nominate businesses for the award. Winners will be announced by early October.
