Dr. Parul Sharma, recent addition to Premier Orthopedic Group in Edmonds, has received board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in rheumatology. Sharma’s expertise includes nonsurgical treatment of problems involving joints, soft tissue, autoimmune diseases, vasculitis and connective tissue disorders.
Landau Associates, a geotechnical, environmental engineering and natural-resources consulting firm, has hired new staff members for its Edmonds office. Jeffrey Fellows will join the environmental group as a senior associate engineer in February. He has 16 years of environmental engineering, project management and operations experience. Evelyn Ives is a staff engineer in the environmental group. She has been working on several projects for private industry clients and recently graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor of science in environmental engineering. Devan Brandt is an office technician responsible for supporting field, laboratory and vehicle operations and maintaining the firm’s field GPS systems. He is a recent graduate of Central Washington University with a bachelor of arts in geology and a minor in environmental studies.
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has named Julie Putterman, a Chicago-based diversity consultant, as the county’s new inclusion manager. Putterman, with more than 25 years experience in diversity issues, will be responsible for increasing cultural competence among staff as well as building strong relations with diversity and inclusion groups throughout Snohomish County and the Puget Sound region.
Dan Bagger has joined Everett’s Goldfinch Brothers as business development manager in the residential division. Bagger will be responsible for strengthening Goldfinch’s sales, marketing and business development activities and will focus on architects and builders, creating leads for the sales team. He brings nearly 28 years of experience to the firm.
Moss Adams recently announced three promotions at their Everett office. Eric Young is now an assurance senior, Fahra Alimohamed has been promoted to tax senior and Jim Thompson has been named an assurance manager.
Keller Williams in Everett hired two new agents, Emily Hanby and Mary Duke, both new to the industry.

On Jan. 17, The Zonta Club of Everett awarded Tavia Blume the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Blume also received this scholarship in 2012.
“Whiskers,” a short film produced by Jonathan Holbrook for Tall Taurus Media of Everett, has been accepted into the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest Feb. 1-3. Taurus Media is an award-winning multimedia company.

The Zonta Club of Everett Foundation will distribute money from a recent auction at a luncheon to Arc of Snohomish County, Cocoon House, Everett Gospel Mission, Providence Intervention Center for Assault, YWCA of Seattle/King/Snohomish County, Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County and Providence Hospice &Home Care Foundation.
Bonaventure Senior Living helped local charities through the Bonaventure &You campaign. New residents who moved to Bonaventure retirement communities could select a charity of their choice to receive up to a $1,000 gift. In Snohomish County, 11 charities benefitted thanks to residents at Olympic Place in Arlington and North Creek in Bothell.
Bethany of the Northwest Foundation has been awarded a $13,000 grant from The Everett Clinic Foundation. The funds will be used for a remodel of the kitchen and dining room areas at Bethany’s Silver Crest Assisted Living Facility in the Silver Lake area.
AAA’s Soap for Hope donation drive recently collected and distributed a record 126,646 toiletry items to charitable organizations throughout Washington and northern Idaho — a 21 percent increase compared to last year. The Everett and Lynnwood AAA offices collected more than 11,670 toiletry items that were donated locally to Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.

CSM Lodging has announced the purchase of Courtyard by Marriott North/Lynnwood Everett. The 164-key property, featuring 12 suites, originally opened in 1999. The purchase price was not announced. The property is slated for a comprehensive renovation this year.
The Internal Revenue Service has announced a simplified option that many owners of home-based businesses and some home-based workers may use to figure deductions for the business use of their homes. The new optional deduction is capped at $1,500 per year based on $5 a square foot for up to 300 square feet. It is available starting with the 2013 return most taxpayers file early in 2014.
The City of Everett is accepting Hotel Motel Tax Fund applications until 5 p.m. Feb. 8 from public and non-profit agencies for projects that assist tourism development and promotion. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to eligible applicants who can demonstrate an ability to complete projects by Dec. 15. Applications are available by contacting the Everett City Council offices or online at www.ci.everett.wa.us.
