The Bank of Washington has appointed Tony Devery vice president and branch manager. He will manage the day-to-day operations of the bank’s Everett branch at 33 SE Everett Mall Way. Before joining The Bank of Washington, Devery was vice president and assistant manager of the real estate department at Frontier Bank, which is now Union Bank.
Russ Keithley has joined Coastal Community Bank as vice president and senior relationship manager. Keithley is active in many Snohomish County organizations and has an extensive background in community lending. He graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School with honors and previously worked with InterWest Bank in Marysville and Whidbey Island Bank.
Pratt Pest Management Northwest has appointed Jerry Murphy the new operations manager. The one-time Woodinville resident recently returned to Washington after six years in California. He is a longtime veteran of the pest control industry with experience in service, manufacturing and distribution. Murphy is considered an authority on fly control.
United Way of Snohomish County has four new staff members. Ian Nelson will be responsible for coordinating the Free Tax Preparation campaign. Sara Haner is the new communications and events manager. Chris Cote is the new senior manager of government relations. And Toni Wishon is United Way of Snohomish County’s new administrative assistant.
Mark Smith is the new executive director of the Housing Consortium of Everett and Snohomish County. A resident of the county for more than 30 years, Smith since 2006 has served on the Lynnwood City Council, where he has been a strong advocate for protecting affordable housing, especially for families and seniors. He begins work at the consortium March 19.
Washington Federal has named J. Patrick Doud assistant vice president and business banking loan officer of the Northern Washington region. Most recently, Doud served Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties as a private banking officer for Union Bank. He began his career in banking as a commercial loan officer with Frontier Bank before it was acquired in 2010. Doud also brings his experience as a business owner, having played an instrumental role in the startup of two Everett-area businesses.
Recognition
Everett-based production company Tall Taurus Media has announced that it is the recipient of a Silver Telly award for a video produced for the Snohomish County Red Cross. The video focused on the Snohomish High School stabbing of April Lutz in 2011 and included interviews of the heroes who came to her rescue that day, saving her life.

Learn about Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School and careers in aviation maintenance at an information session at 2:30 p.m. on April 12. Businesses holding unclaimed property can learn more about their obligation to report it to the state through free workshops being offered by the Washington State Department of Revenue. Unclaimed property audit manager Barbie Schneider said businesses can view the 2012 workshop schedule and register online by going to http://dor.wa.gov and clicking on the “workshops and education” link on the left.
Edward Jones financial advisor Joe Gogal of Everett is hosting a presentation, “Social Security: Your Questions Answered,” at 4:30 p.m. April 4 at the Mill Creek Country Club and at 1 p.m. April 16 at the 92nd Street Event Center in Marysville. Other vendor booth space is available at low cost, with outdoor spaces open beginning April 14. Bridgestone Retail Operations recently celebrated the grand opening of a new Firestone Complete Auto Care store in north Marysville at 17305 27th Ave. NE. The general manager is Gerry McArthur. The ribbon-cutting ceremony March 16 included Marysville Mayor John Nehring, Councilmembers Carmen Rasmussen and Donna Wright, Fire Marshal Tom Maloney, as well as Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce board Chairman John Bell and member Maureen Depuy. Firestone Complete Auto Care presented a $500 donation to Senior Services of Snohomish County’s Meals on Wheels program and a $500 donation to the Boys &Girls Club.
The Legacy Group has created a real estate hub in a log cabin at the corner of 164th Street SW and Cascadian Way in Mill Creek. Daniel Cote, a loan officer and certified real estate instructor, and Tony Fisher, a loan officer and certified mortgage planner, plan to use the space to hold classes and events for both real estate agents and the general community.
