Boeing bonus coming
The Boeing Co.’s better than expected earnings report last week will mean that many employees will see a bonus Feb. 18. Boeing said workers will get a check for up to seven days of pay. The bonus doesn’t apply to Machinists, who regotiated a payment for last November. Boeing beat analysts’ earnings estimates for the final quarter of 2009, reporting $1.25 billion in net income, or $1.75 a share. The announced boosted the company’s share price.
767 rudder donated: Aviation Technical Services of Everett donated a jet rudder made of composite materials to Everett Community College’s aviation maintenance school. “This is a pivotal piece of technology for out program,” said instructor Alex Porter. About 70 students are enrolled in the school and work to earn an associate degree, a certificate in aviation maintenance technology or a Federal Aviation Administration mechanic’s certificate.
Home prices fall: Home prices sunk to 2005 levels last year, according to the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. The average price for a home in Snohomish County was $311,000, according to listing service statistics. There was a slight increase in home sales last year in the county. Nearly 7,800 homes were sold at a combined value of $2.4 billion. The most popular home was a three-bedroom.
Cascade posts profit: Everett-based Cascade Bank announced a fourth quarter profit of $1.1 million in 2009. That compares with $2.2 million in net income for the fourth quarter of 2008. The profit was the second in a row for the bank, which like most in the nation had an extremely difficult year last year. Some highlights: Cascade saw checking deposits increase by 138 percent from 2008 and 36 percent from the previous quarter.
