BELLEVUE — The Boeing Co. is selling a dozen buildings in south King County, but it isn’t now putting its former Harbor Pointe facility in Mukilteo on the market, the head of the company’s real estate division said Wednesday.
The company is considering different plans and may look for a tenant to lease the Harbour Pointe site, Boeing Realty Corp. President Philip Cyburt said.
Boeing is moving out of Harbour Pointe as part of its drive to consolidate Puget Sound operations. The company last month told employees the move will be completed by the end of the year.
About 850 people work in the building. Most of them are being transferred to other Everett-area sites.
It’s the same sort of process that has led to putting for sale signs on seven buildings at Boeing’s Auburn parts fabrication plant and five buildings at the company’s space and communications center in Kent, officials said.
"Consolidating operations and reducing surplus assets is part of Boeing’s ongoing effort to increase efficiencies and concentrate its resources," Paul Bay, Boeing’s senior executive in Kent, said in a prepared statement. Doing that is "key to running a healthy business and helps ensure the viability of continued operations on the rest of the site," he added.
The sale will not mean any further cuts to the workforce beyond those already announced, Boeing said.
The property for sale in Auburn is seven warehouses totaling about 1.2 million square feet, which sit on 34 acres of land.
The Kent properties are a mix of buildings, all close to Boeing’s 240-acre Pacific Gateway Business Park. They range in size from 115,000 to 275,000 square feet and include equipment for metal finishing and plating, among other things.
Boeing said it is committed to working with the cities of Auburn and Kent to find new companies to buy and occupy the buildings.
