The Boeing Co. announced another delay in its 787 Dreamliner on Thursday.
Boeing will push back the first flight of the 787 until the second quarter of 2009. The company will deliver the first Dreamliner in the first quarter of 2010. Boeing blamed the recent Machinists strike and the replacement of flawed parts for the schedule slide.
“Our industry team has made progress with structural testing, systems hardware qualification, and production, but we must adjust our schedule for these two unexpected disruptions,” said Scott Carson, president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Boeing is still assessing how the delays will affect its financial forecast.
Seperately, the company booked an order for 15 more 787s from an unidentified customer. This pushes the Dreamliner over the 900-order mark.
