The Boeing Co. has surpassed the 500th order mark on its new 787 jet, making the Dreamliner the company’s fastest selling commercial aircraft.
Boeing picked up order number 500 last week with a follow-on request from Japan Airlines Corp. but announced the milestone in front of roughly 3,000 787 employees in Everett on Tuesday.
Since JAL’s order, Boeing has received even more Dreamliner orders bringing the official 787 tally to 514, said Mike Bair, Boeing’s vice president of the 787 program.
“And there’s more in the pipeline,” he said.
