EVERETT — The Boeing Co. is continuing with its protest of the U.S. Air Force’s choice of Northrup Grumman to build a next-generation stealth bomber.
In November, Boeing and Lockheed Martin protested the decision with the Government Accountability Office. The Air Force defended its subsequent decision in a filing with the GAO.
On Thursday, Boeing filed a 133-page brief in response.
“The Boeing and Lockheed Martin team believe that the Air Force’s selection process was irreparably flawed and therefore have decided to continue with their protest before the GAO,” Boeing said in a statement late Friday afternoon.
Defense analysts have said there is a small but real chance that the decision to go with Northrup could be overturned.
The contract to design and produce the long-range strike bomber could be worth as much as $80 billion.
