Boeing logs 747 cancellation, 4 new 737 orders

Good news and bad news for Boeing’s order book this week. …

The bad news: A Boeing VIP customer cancelled a 747-8 order. The updated 747-8 now has 105 total orders (freighter and passenger).

But a Boeing spokesman says the company decision, announced yesterday to push back delivery of its passenger version from second quarter 2011 to fourth quarter 2011 had nothing to do with the cancellation or vice versa.

The good news: Boeing added an order for four 737s from Alaska Air.

That brings Boeing’s year-to-date net order total to 7.

UPDATE: I corrected the above sentence from an earlier version in which I had listed Boeing’s gross order total of 40 as net.
