Boeing poised to launch 747 Advanced

That’s what Boeing Blogger-in-Chief Randy Baseler told journalists in Paris, anyway. MarketWatch http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?guid=%7BA1B14E21-B550-447E-B0F9-EA1AE950E0B6%7D and Reuters http://today.reuters.com/business/newsarticle.aspx?type=ousiv&storyID=2005-10-21T103220Z_01_MOR137832_RTRIDST_0_BUSINESSPRO-TRANSPORT-BOEING-DC.XML both are reporting that development (which our friends at the Associated Press seemingly missed, even though they had a reporter there).

Key Quote, from MarketWatch: “Baseler said that when Boeing launches production of the 747A, it will have ‘more than one’ order for the model. He declined to comment on how much financing Boeing believes the model’s launch will require.”

Key Quote, from Reuters: “Most interest is in a freighter,’ Baseler told a Paris news briefing.”

Baseler’s actual job title is vice president for marketing, btw.
