The Boeing Co. and SPEEA are in talks today over the company’s education reimbursement program.
Boeing announced cuts to its tuition reimbursement plan last year. The company’s unions said their labor contracts shielded union members from the changes.
But Boeing and its engineers union have been battling over the issue. SPEEA said that Boeing planned to implement its cuts retroactive to Oct. 12, 2009.
Today, SPEEA noted on its Web site:
As of today, company representatives have informed SPEEA no changes have been implemented and that they do not know when implementation will take place.
Company and union officials will meet today to discuss the proposed changes. SPEEA considers Boeing’s planned cuts a violation of the National Labor Relations Act to impose cuts mid-contract.
SPEEA has organized meetings for member about financial aid:
- 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Tukwila Hall
- 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Everett SPEEA Hall
