This just in: Boeing has patented an expandable lavatory, reports Crain’s Chicago Business. The business weekly says the new design locks down fairly flat for take-off and landing, but swings out into the space in front of emergency exits while in flight:
Key quote: “The patent addresses one likely passenger fear: that the giant lazy susan might accidentally swing shut, trapping an occupant. ‘During a turbulent flight, a suitable locking mechanism (e.g., latches, etc.) can be provided,’ the patent states.”
