A week after the first flight of its 787 Dreamliner, the Boeing Co. will put the second 787 in the air Tuesday.
Boeing has scheduled the first flight of the second 787 jet for 8:45 a.m., Tuesday. The aircraft will take off from Everett’s Paine Field as long as flight conditions are acceptable to Boeing.
Boeing put its delayed 787 in the air for the first time last Tuesday. The Dreamliner program, which has run into production and supplier troubles, is more than two years behind schedule.
The company will use six 787s in its flight test program as it strives to gain certification from the Federal Aviation Administration late next year. Boeing plans to deliver the first 787 to Japan’s All Nippon Airways in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The second 787 is painted in ANA’s livery. However, Boeing already has said the second Dreamliner will not be delivered to a customer due to the number of modification made to the jet.
On Monday, ANA placed an order with Boeing for five 767s and five 777s.
