John Melson has been hired to lead Everett Community College’s eLearning department. As the director of educational technology, he will work with EvCC faculty and students on a variety of digital tools and technologies including the college’s eLearning system, Canvas. Melson moved to Washington state earlier this year. Previously he was an independent educational technology consultant.
Support Housing Hope in HomeStreet Bank contest
People have until Sept. 25 to help HomeStreet Bank decide how will allocate its charitable support of local nonprofits, including Everett’s own Housing Hope. The contest is taking place on HomeStreet’s Facebook page. Every organization will receive a donation, with amounts of $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second place, and $3,000 for third place.
Everett’s Fluke Networks introduces new probe for network installers
Fluke Networks has introduced its new FI-500 FiberInspector Scope. The low-cost video inspection probe with an integrated flashlight makes it easy for network installers to inspect fibers in crowded patch panels in dense, low-light environments. It also lets technicians quickly determine if endfaces are contaminated or damaged. The FI-500 sells for about half the price of automated video scopes.
