Everett financial adviser wins Chairman’s Council award

D.A. Davidson has named financial adviser Jeff Decker from the company’s Everett office to the firm’s most prestigious honors club. The Chairman’s Council award referenced his passionate approach to client service and the fact that he has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to clients and the Everett community.

Meet new Economic Alliance Snohomish County CEO

Economic Alliance Snohomish County invites investors and guests to welcome its new CEO Patrick Pierce at a Meet &Greet from 5 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill &Irish Pub in Everett. Pierce previously served as the economic development program manager for the Puget Sound Regional Council. The event is free to attend with a no host bar.

State cracks down on party buses

In response to a number of injuries and fatalities involving party buses nationwide, state transportation regulators have implemented new rules to improve the safety of the industry in Washington. Consumers can check the permit status of a party bus company on the UTC’s website, www.utc.wa.gov, by calling 1-888-333-9882, or by emailing consumer@utc.wa.gov.

Retail taxable sales in state were up

The state’s taxable retail sales made in the third quarter of 2015 reached $35.8 billion, a 7.8 percent increase over the same quarter in 2014, according to recent data from the Washington State Department of Revenue. Second quarter 2015 results for Snohomish County put its taxable retail sales up 7.93 percent at $3.31 billion.

Arlington awards grants for tourism

The city of Arlington has approved 13 project proposals that support tourism promotion. The city collects lodging tax revenues and distributes grants on an annual basis. The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee made recommendations for funding that totaled $129,000. This funding supports the Arlington Eagle Festival, events at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, operations of the Visitor Information Center and other programs.

Companies can apply for grants to help exports

Exporting grants are available from the Washington Department of Commerce. The State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) program offers qualified companies, new to exporting or expanding into new export markets, up to $5,000 for export-related expenses. The program requires a minimum 25 percent cash match. For additional information, click here.
