Rotarians help clean Everett park

On Sept. 27, volunteers from the Rotary Club of Everett joined students and others to help clean up Everett’s Rotary Park, next to the Snohomish River in Lowell. Everett Rotarians helped develop the popular community park. It features a boat launch, walking trails and picnic areas.

PacMed CEO to speak in Everett

Pacific Medical Center CEO Harvey Smith will speak about the ins-and-outs of what employers need to know to navigate the health care system. The talk is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St., in downtown Everett. Cost is $25 for Economic Alliance Snohomish County investors; $40 for non-investors. Workshop planned for using video for your business

Learn tips for conveying your message through video at a workshop by DIY Professional Video Production. Editing, video marketing and tips on equipment, lighting and sound will be touched upon. The event is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Economic Alliance Snohomish County office, 808 134th St. SW, Building B, Suite 101, Everett. Cost is free for EASC investors; $60 for non-investors. New Hampton Inn hosts grand opening

A grand opening is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the new Hampton Inn, 2931 W. Marine View Drive, Everett. The six-story, 122-room hotel features views of Port Gardner Bay and located closed to Everett Community College, Everett Naval Station and Paine Field.

Spas raise $40,000 for arthritis research

Massage Envy Spa clinics in Washington recently took part in the Healing Hands for Arthritis event. The 25 local clinics set a goal to raise $35,000 by donating $10 from every massage session that day, holding raffles, taking fish bowl donations and working with other local businesses. They exceeded their goal and raised a total of $40,815.16.

Bothell Beer Festival on tap

The first Bothell Beer Festival is scheduled to run from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 18 in historic downtown Bothell at Festival Street (101st) between Main Street and 183rd Street. The event will feature a dozen local breweries including Bothell’s Foggy Noggin Brewing. Ticket information is at http://bothellchamber.com/html/BothellBeerFest.

Forum on health care planned

A free forum, “Don’t Wait for a Crisis: Health Care, Your Way,” will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Edmonds Center for Arts. The event is in conjunction with a community initiative by Snohomish County Health Leadership Coalition to promote advance care planning. For those unable to attend, the event will be live-streamed, viewable online at sno-isle.org.

Check water heater temperature

Snohomish County PUD reminds all customers to set water heaters no higher than 120 degrees. This temperature setting reduces the risk of accidental scalding, saves energy and helps reduce utility bills. Also, check furnace filters and change if needed. Duck calling champion to appear at Tulalip Cabela’s
