Marysville hires new community development director
The City of Marysville has appointed Dave Koenig as its new community development director. He began work on July 16. In his new role, Koenig will help to responsibly and strategically manage the city’s growth and development. Previously, Koenig managed the city of Everett’s long range planning and community development involving a number of high profile projects.
Program that helps veterans transition to civilian life wins award
On July 22, NW Edge, a public-private partnership spearheaded by the state Office of Financial Management and the U.S. Army Reserve Corp, was recognized by the National Association of State Personnel Executives with the Eugene H. Rooney, Jr. award. The program that helps veterans transition from active duty to civilian life has helped nearly 190 veterans since its launch in January 2014.
Woodinville flooring company honored for waste-reduction efforts
King County Solid Waste is honoring Woodinville’s Division 9 Flooring with the Re-Innovator Award for Waste Prevention and Recycling Practices. This award recognizes exceptional innovative waste reduction programs. Over the last seven years, Division 9 Flooring has diverted more than 900 pounds of carpet and pad from landfills. Division 9 Flooring’s sustainability program has been in place since 2008.
Free car wash for Brown Bear anniversary
Brown Bear will be offering free Beary Clean car washes at 21 of their automated tunnel wash locations in the Puget Sound area to celebrate its 58th anniversary on Aug. 27. Last year’s anniversary event generated 26,437 free washes, bringing the combined total of complimentary anniversary and free Veterans Day washes to over 225,000.
