The Northwest Women’s Business Center is organizing a road show for women who would like to become their own boss.
The Nov. 8 “About Town” tour will carry a busload of would-be entrepreneurs around Snohomish County to meet women with a track record of business success.
“We want to show women what other women businesses have done through the help of the Northwest Women’s Business Center,” said Carolyn Eslick, organizer of the event.
The tour will visit some of the organization’s clients, including Dream Dinners in Everett, Creating a Good Book in Marysville, Flat Iron Gallery in Monroe, Heaven Scent Floral &Gifts in Monroe, Thyme for Health in Monroe, Hitching Post Supply in Monroe, Zena Moon in Maltby and Mrs. Pennycooke’s Teahouse in Snohomish.
The participants have a variety of business experience.
For example, Dream Dinners is expanding rapidly through franchises. Zena Moon, which had its products featured on Oprah Winfrey’s television show, is working to control its growth.
Each of the owners will take 10 to 15 minutes to tell their story, Eslick said. They’ll also answer questions.
Along the way, participants will hear about business loans from a trip sponsor, First Heritage Bank of Snohomish, and plan some business games.
“We’re going to have fun,” Eslick said.
The business center helps people get ready for doing business by preparing business and marketing plans and developing cash flow projections. Clients then go after their own financing, but they can also wind up with a loan from the Small Business Administration.
While the organization focuses on women and minorities, men are not excluded from receiving its help.
