The Port of Everett’s south terminal is the preferred site for construction of the new pontoons for the Hood Canal Bridge, the state Department of Transportation said Thursday. The work was started in Clallam County but was halted when officials discovered American Indian bones and artifacts. Three new sites, including Everett, will be studied. Port director John Mohr said he’s unsure of the number of jobs the project would create or even if the port would want the pontoon project. “We’re very fortunate in that there are a lot of good things happening right now at the marine terminals,” he said. “It’s great to have options.”

Shares in the company increased $2.12 to $57.42, an increase of 10.9 percent so far this year.
