Opposing pilots in Vietnam War meet again

MUKILTEO — The Historic Flight Foundation at 10719 Bernie Webber Drive, Mukilteo, will unite fighter pilots Dan Cherry and Hong My, subjects of the book “My Enemy, My Friend,” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12.

nt their first meeting in the sky over North Vietnam in 1972 when Cherry, then an Air Force major, shot down Hong’s MiG-21. They met a second time 36 years later in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, and have since become good friends. They will be available after their presentation to sign copies

of “My Enemy, My Friend.”

Webinar on SBA disaster recovery assistance

WASHINGTON – In the aftermath of flooding, wildfires, earthquakes and man-made calamities, how does the U.S. Small Business Administration determine which businesses are eligible to apply for disaster loans? Tourism Bureau presents quarterly tourism forum

EVERETT — The four secret weapons of effective marketing communications will be examined at The Four Secrets for Marketing Success workshop on Tuesday, March 15. The deadline to sign up for the event is Wednesday, March 9.

Business owners and marketing professionals will get tips on marketing skills, messaging, media choices, targeting and timing. The presenter is Andrew Ballard, president of Marketing Solutions.

The Snohomish County Tourism Bureau event takes place at Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena in Everett. Cost is $30 per person with lunch included.

March 10 conference covers procurement opportunities

PUYALLUP — Washington State Procurement Technical Assistance Center will hold its 2011 Alliance Small Business Opportunities Conference on Thursday, March 10.

Several hundred small business representatives will gather for the conference in the Americraft Showplex Exhibition & Conference Center at the Puyallup Fairgrounds from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is designed for businesses to learn about procurement opportunities through agencies and prime contractors. Parking is free in the fairgrounds blue lot.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Sean Crean, director for the Office of Small Business Programs for the Department of the Navy.

Admission is $125 per person and includes one lunch ticket, access to breakout sessions and networking. Business advertising is available at an additional fee during registration.

Everett Schools Foundation breakfast with Graham Kerr

EVERETT — The Everett Public Schools Foundation will host its 17th annual benefit breakfast 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10 in the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena in Everett.

Graham Kerr, the culinary and television personality known as the Galloping Gourmet, will share his message of wellness for children as the cornerstone for their health and academic achievement. Kerr will have his new book Growing at the Speed of Life available after the event for purchase and autograph.

Event proceeds will support program initiatives of the foundation including classroom grants, all-day kindergarten tuition assistance and summer school tuition assistance programs.

Snohomish Wine Festival planned for March 12

SNOHOMISH — The Snohomish Wine Festival will be held on from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Snohomish Senior Center, 506 Fourth St., Snohomish.

The festival will feature more than 20 wineries many from throughout the north Puget Sound and several distilleries. It is appropriate for guests 21 years of age and older.

Admission is $30, which includes 10 tastings, appetizers and the official Snohomish Wine Festival glass to the first 400 guests. Guests will be able to buy additional tastes and bottles.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy dining and shopping in Snohomish before and after the festival. All proceeds from the Snohomish Wine Festival support the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce.

SEATTLE — The Washington Technology Industry Association and Applied HR Strategies present to human resources professionals the WTIAs annual salary survey.

Columbia Bank opens new branch in Everett

MUKILTEO — The Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce and Snohomish County Airport at Paine Field announce the sixth annual Mukilteo Business Showcase. The Get Connected Business Showcase will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Future of Flight Aviation Center in Mukilteo. The event is open to the public for $5 at the door.

More than 40 local businesses have committed to exhibit at the Mukilteo Business Showcase. Local restaurants will serve hors d’oeuvres, wines and microbrews.

Booths are available for businesses to purchase for maximum visibility. Opportunities to contribute prizes to the Mukilteo Chamber Scholarship Program silent auction are also available.
