Cindy Melland, Stephanie Pahlow, Mary-Ellen Donnellan and Kathy Rose have been promoted at Frontier Bank. Melland is now senior vice president and manager of the bank’s cash management department. Donnellan is now vice president and manager of the electronic banking department. Rose is senior vice president and security officer. Pahlow recently joined the bank as vice president and real estate loan officer. All have many years of experience in the banking industry.

Jim Tax has been promoted to regional marketing manager for Allstate Insurance Co. With headquarters in Bothell, Allstate’s Northwest region oversees business activity in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii. An Everett resident, Tax previously worked in marketing at Allstate headquarters in Northbrook, Ill.

Lisa Dzyban, a veterinarian, has joined the medical consulting staff of Phoenix Central Laboratory of Everett. Dzyban joined Phoenix after practicing internal veterinary medicine at a critical care center in the south Puget Sound area. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Minnesota.

Rose Goulet is the new president of the Rotary Club of Everett. Goulet, a Rotary member since 1995, will lead the club’s 200 members. The Everett resident is director of medical waste and medical recycling for Rubatino Refuse Removal.

Nancy Clark and Scott Wurtz, licensed massage and registered Bowenwork therapists at Bowenwork Health Clinic in Marysville, recently attended an international educational conference for Bowenwork practitioners at Yale University. In addition, Clark completed her advanced training in Bowenwork at the conference.

Jessica Wilcox is the new government affairs director at the Snohomish County Public Utility District. Wilcox will serve on behalf of the PUD in its dealings with state, local and federal agencies and lawmakers. She previously worked for the state of Idaho, the city of Portland, Ore., and the Bonneville Power Administration.

Bert Markovich of Mill Creek was recently named a “super lawyer” by Washington Law and Politics magazine. The magazine surveys 16,000 lawyers in the state to determine candidates for the award. Only the top 5 percent of Washington lawyers receive this distinction. Markovich is an attorney with Schwabe, Williamson and Wyatt in Seattle.

The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates the opening of Rejuvenations Spa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on Tuesday at 2532 Broadway, Everett.

Zippy’s Java Lounge celebrates its first anniversary from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 1804 Hewitt Ave., Everett. A jazz band is set to play at 1 p.m. The event includes cake, ice cream and other treats. Marilyn Rosenberg opened the Internet coffeehouse in 2005 on her dog Zippy’s birthday. The cafe features poetry readings and music.

Radia, the Everett-based private radiology-vascular practice, has joined with the Vascular Institute of the Northwest to provide vascular surgery services in downtown Seattle, augmenting its current offerings of vascular surgery services in Snohomish County. The institute will be renamed Radia Vascular Institute of the Northwest and remain next to Swedish Providence Hospital.

Aculight Corp. of Bothell has secured four new contracts of more than $2 million to advance work on the state-of-the-art, high-peak-power fiber lasers for military and aerospace applications.

Claudia’s Decor &Floral is Everett Mall’s newest store. Located just off the center court, the store specializes in home accents. Products range from early American to contemporary.

Workshops, classes

A free credit workshop that teaches how to save on interest, presented by Northwest Mortgage, is scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Quil Ceda Conference Center, 8825 34th Ave. NE, Marysville.

On Thursday, the topic is how to write a press release and work with the media. The July 27 class deals with liability insurance for farms, and the Aug. 20 topic is marketing farm products. Good deeds

The March of Dimes recently honored corporate sponsors for help in raising more than $160,000 at the March of Dimes Walk America in Everett. The top fundraising teams came from Kmart, Providence Everett Medical Center, Kindercare and Contour Aerospace. Along with those teams, other sponsors included Botesch, Nash &Hall, Key Bank, The Everett Clinic, The Little Gym, Lamoureux Real Estate, Cdi Engineers, Contour Aerospace, Kmart, Fluke Corp., Columbia College, Gamut 360, Babies R Us and the Everett Hawks.

The employee giving fund at Coastal Community Bank has donated $1,000 to the Little Red School House to support continuing education for staff. The Little Red School House serves young children with special needs in Snohomish County.

Myownly Boarding Kennel owner Cathi Tower-Chriscaden recently donated supplies to help the Pawsabilities 4-H Club of Lynnwood with a yard sale. The sale benefited the club, Sky Valley Food Bank and Rescue Pup in Mill Creek. The Monroe kennel also supports the Boys &Girls Club, Homefront, the Monroe Senior Center and the Matthew House ministry.

The Starbucks Neighborhood Parks Program has donated $15,000 to the native plant walk and paths at the Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett.
