Michael Katanik of Haggen Food and Pharmacy in Marysville has been named meat manager of the year for the company. At the Edmonds store, Richard Umbinetti was named seafood-chef manager of the year, Myan Markwardt, was named variety manager of the year, and Milton Cheung was named pharmacy manager of the year.

Lorelei Bender and Rey Suarez have been named vice presidents at Cascade Financial Corp. of Everett, the parent company of Cascade Bank. Suarez is the new manager for the Harbour Pointe branch, and Bender manages the Marysville office. Also, Angela Edwards has been appointed an assistant vice president. Edwards is a business systems analyst for the company.

Shirah O‘Connell, a certified athletic trainer, has joined Murphy’s Corner Physical Therapy in Mill Creek. She will work with volleyball and basketball teams in Everett and Marysville.

Jeff Cox of Snohomish has been promoted to vice president of Triad Associates, a Kirkland land development consulting firm. He’s currently working on Campus Park, a master-planned community.

Greg Hall of Smokey Point Concrete/Skagit Readymix has been promoted to dispatch manager at the company.

Dave and Teresa Andrade have opened a new franchise of the UPS Store in the James Village Shopping Center at 19410 Highway 99 Suite A in Lynnwood. The store offers UPS shipping, as wells as packaging materials, office supplies, copying, laminating, faxing and notary services. It is open 9 a.m. -7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.

Seattle’s Allstar Fitness is opening a new fitness center at 19579 U.S. 2 in Monroe. It will offer programs, classes and nutrition products, as well as a lounge, children’s pool and free day care.

Martha’s Coffee & Pastries will celebrate a grand opening of sorts today at 2930 Rucker Ave. in downtown Everett. The business was opened earlier this year by Martha Augustson and is now run by Katherine Bigney. Hours are 7 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday. Bigney said she plans afternoon theme teas in the near future.

Netplay Gaming Federation, 19725 40th Ave. W. Suite H., Lynnwood, is offering a networked system of 50 personal computers and 12 Xboxes. Gamers can play the latest releases either at the shop or over the Internet at www.netplaygaming.com. The owner is Sarah Chappelle.

Fashion Bug, 7705 Evergreen Way, Unit G-14 in Everett, is sponsoring a toy drive until Wednesday to benefit Christmas House. Donors are asked to drop off unwrapped new toys at the store.

Gianni’s Restaurant, 5030 Evergreen Way in Everett, is teaming with the Assistance League of Everett to raise money for children and families in need. Customers and the general public can choose an ornament from a tree at the restaurant that represents a specific request and leave money to take care of it. The ornament will go home with the donor.

Northwest Plus Credit Union, 2821 Hewitt Ave. in Everett, is accepting donations of food and money for Volunteers of America until Friday. Food donations can be dropped off at the credit union. Financial donations can also be mailed to the above address. The ZIP code is 98201.

The state Department of Revenue has introduced an e-check payment option for businesses that use its electronic filing service to pay state excise taxes. The service allows companies to make one-time payments from their checking accounts similar to the use of a debit card. For more information, companies should visit the agency’s Web site at dor.wa.gov and click on the e-file icon near the top left of the page.

U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee will tour technology companies in Canyon Park, then hold a brown-bag lunch forum noon-1 p.m. Dec. 17 at Canyon Park Heights, 21540 30th Drive SE Suite 310, Room 101, Bothell. The discussion forum will include any issues of federal concern.
