Zac Olesen, who recently graduated from the law enforcement academy, has joined the Lynnwood Police Department. Before becoming a police officer, Olesen served in the Marines. His father is a deputy with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Carol Nelson, president and chief executive officer of Cascade Financial Corp. of Everett and a member of the Independent Community Bankers of America, has been named 15th among the 25 most powerful women in banking by U.S. Banker magazine. More than 4,800 senior banking executives were considered for the list, a magazine spokesman said. Nelson will be honored Oct. 22 in New York City.

David Adamson has joined Puget Sound Financial of Everett as a senior associate. Adamson is an experienced business and entrepreneurial

specialist.

Dr. Reynold Karr has announced his retirement after serving 28 years as an internist on the hospital medical staff at Providence

Everett Medical Center and running a private practice treating allergy, immunology and rheumatology. Karr plans to continue teaching at the University of Washington and continue as medical director of PlasmaLab International, an Everett-based biomedical company. His private practice staff has included JoAnn Whitt, Susan Perry, Rhonda Sandobal, Lynn Groomer, Mary Londerville and Diana Lachman. Karr plans to close his office Nov. 30. Rep. John McCoy, D-Tulalip, who represents the 38th state legislative district, has been named Elder of the Year by the National Indian Education Association. McCoy was recognized for his focus on education and community service. McCoy is active with United Way and the Native American Advisory Board to the national Boys &Girls Clubs organization. He is the manager of Quil Ceda Village, which oversees the infrastructure of the Tulalip Business Park.

Henry “Rick” Costantino has been promoted to chief scientific officer of delivery at Nastech Pharmaceutical Co. of Bothell. He will assume responsibilities for leading Nastech’s development of new drug delivery technologies for peptide and protein therapeutics.

Two career fairs will be offered Oct. 18 at the University of Washington’s Bothell campus. One will be from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and the other will go from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Each will feature diverse employers, including the U.S. Census Bureau, Alaska Airlines, the Boeing Co., UPS, Puget Sound Blood Center and Intermec Technologies Corp.
