Dean Shaughnessy is leaving his position as marina operations manager at the Port of Everett to start his own business, Marina Consulting Services on Camano Island. Shaughnessy worked more than 27 years for the Port of Everett, where he won awards and professional recognition.

Jennifer Middleton has joined the Bank of Everett as a loan administrator. Middleton previously worked for Washington Mutual Bank and EverTrust Bank and has a background in loan processing and consumer and commercial banking.

Tom Harville of Edmonds has been re-elected to the board of Recreational Equipment Inc., a national retail cooperative and provider of outdoor gear. Harville is a retired chairman and chief executive officer of the Bon Marche, now part of the Macy’s retail chain.

Kendra Fuller is the new director of human resources in the Lynnwood office of Sparling, a specialty electrical engineering and technology consulting firm. She is a certified senior professional in human resources with more than 18 years experience in human resources and business operations leadership.

Paul Luczyk, owner of “A” Team Home Inspection of Mukilteo, recently attended a national conference by the American Society of Home Inspectors, which promotes excellence within the profession.

Ray Corwin of Everett Bank and Darrell Draper of John L. Scott Real Estate were elected recently to the board of Everett Gospel Mission. Board officers are president Tom Walker of Tom Walker’s Haircuts Plus, vice president Jody Lynn of Snohomish County PUD, secretary Larry Dreyer of Snohomish County administration and treasurer Laurie Steinberg of Everett Vacuum.

Lyle Ryan, president and chief operating officer of Everett-based Frontier Bank, was honored recently at the annual Boy Scout Breakfast. Ryan is a member of the Mount Baker Scout Council executive board.

Dillon Works, a Mukilteo-based custom design and fabrication company whose clients include Cartoon Network, Nordstrom, Sony and Walt Disney, has been nominated for a Thea Award for outstanding achievement and creative work. The nomination comes as a result of the company’s work on Zoomazium at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

Good deeds

Thousands of shoppers at Haggen Food &Pharmacy and TOP Food &Drug stores made donations in February and March to help those with multiple sclerosis. Haggen Inc. has forwarded donations of more than $80,500 from its 32 stores to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

EverTrust Foundation has made a $20,000 grant to United Way of Snohomish County. The grant will be used to match and secure federal funding for United Way’s individual development accounts initiative, which helps families or individuals in need save for an education, a home or to start a small business.

Kimberly-Clark Corp. has awarded grants of $10,000 each to three Snohomish County branches of the YMCA. The money will go to support health and wellness programs at Marysville YMCA, Mukilteo YMCA and Southeast YMCA. Kimberly-Clark has a paper mill in Everett.

State Farm Insurance recently gave a $2,000 grant to Cascade High School in Everett for its safe driving program, “Cascade Click It.” Teacher Jodi Galli and her students applied for the grant.

South Whidbey Good Cheer Food Bank recently received an award and $5,000 grant from the Food Lifeline, a food bank network in Western Washington. The food bank was recognized for its marketing strategies. The Boeing Co. was a $5,000 sponsor of a Food Lifeline award that recognized collaboration in the community.

Pinnacle Financial, Everett Silvertips Hockey and Volunteers of America Western Washington teamed up recently to help Snohomish County individuals and families in need. More than 11,800 pounds of food and nearly $600 was collected through the drive.

The Everett Police Department recently received the Top 25 Webber Seavey Award from the Motorola Company and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The award is given annually to agencies and departments in efforts to improve the quality of life in communities. The Everett department’s entry into the contest was its Crime Free Rental Housing Program. Steve Paxton and Toan Nguyen were recognized for their work establishing the crime notification program.
