Boeing’s ground-breaking 787 Dreamliner won it a spot in BusinessWeek’s Top 25 list of the world’s most innovative companies.
The publication ranks the Chicago-based planemaker number 21 behind the likes of Apple, Microsoft and Starbucks. However, Boeing moved up dramatically from its number 70 ranking in 2006.
BusinessWeek took note of Boeing’s move to incorporate more composite material in its new jet. Additionally, it mentions the “cultural change” needed within the company to handle Boeing’s global supply chain.
