Unemployment in Snohomish County continued to climb in November even after the Boeing Machinists’ strike ended, the state Employment Security Department reported this morning.
The county’s unemployment rate rose to 6.3 percent last month from 6.1 percent in October. That’s close to the state’s unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.4 percent, according to the state.
For the past 12 months ending in November, the state lost 22,400 jobs.
While the unemployment situation in Washington continues to get worse, it still looks better than the U.S. unemployment situation. In November, more than half a million jobs were lost nationwide, The national unemployment rate surged to 6.7 percent.
