Pres. Obama may tap former Washington Gov. Gary Locke as his next pick for Secretary of Commerce.
Locke was instrumental in getting tax breaks for the Boeing Co. to build its 787 Dreamliner here.
Boeing isn’t commenting on Locke’s nomination. But local analyst Scott Hamilton, with Leeham Co., sees it as a plus for Boeing.
Hamilton noted that the Commerce Dept. found itself drawn into the last battle between Boeing and rival Northrop Grumman (and partner EADS) to replace the Air Force’s aerial refueling tankers.
“I think this is bad news for Northrop,” Hamilton said.
